Bernie has over the years gained a broad range of sector and transactional experiences covering essentially the whole equity product range from midcap leveraged buyouts to growth and venture capital. During his time with the renowned Private Equity Investor, 3i Group plc (the last period in a Partner role leading 3i's healthcare activities), his investments included:
- Micromet AG, a promising biotechnology company focused on oncology
- Pulsion Medical Systems AG, a company specialising in cardiac monitoring devices
- Betapharma (a leading German generic drug company), the investment and successful €480 sale
- Xellia Pharmaceuticals (formerly Alpharma API), a USD 395 million investment)
Bernie now wants to bring the accumulated experience and know how to use in the form of new business activities in the private equity and corporate finance environment and initially the scope of activities is confined to consulting services but it is ultimately envisaged to re-engage in direct private equity investments: www.bernieschuler.com
Bernie holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the Claremont Colleges and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at Berkeley University of California.
